How do I book a class?
Our bookings and reservations are all managed online. Book here to plan your experience!
How long will the candle pouring session take?
We allow 1 hour for each candle pouring session but it may only take 30-45 minutes for you to complete the process. We want to make sure you have enough time to make your selections & create your perfect candle! If you finish early, feel free to spend more time with your group & check out everything Poppy and Pomelo and the bar has to offer.
Is there an age limit? 6+ please
You know your child best, we ask that you are there to assist them through the class. The coconut wax is obviously hot so we ask you to use common sense. We are not responsible for accidents or injuries for any age. Craft and make candles at your own risk.
Can I take my candle home the same day as my session?
Yes! You can take your candle home the same day as you make it but it does need at least 30 minutes to cure in order to be suitable for travel. During this time, we encourage you to check out Poppy & Pomelo.
Do you have drinks?
YES, we are a full bar serving all your favorite cocktails, beer and wine. We also offer mocktails and carry non-alcoholic options like diet coke, coke, sprite..ect.
Can I bring my own alcohol? No - the ABC does not allow this. We are happy to put together bar packages for Private Event Reservations.
Can I bring food into The Candle Bar?
Outside food is allowed during private events only. We are happy to arrange catering for your group or event. Please contact us for more information.
Group Reservation Vs. Private Event Reservations
Group reservations are for large parties looking to book a reservation at a pre-scheduled workshop. (View our calendar here) You can book groups directly on our website for your preferred party size.
How do I ensure my group is seated together?
Our booking site allows guests to choose seating for their party size. Please book all of your group together. If others in your group plan to book under separate reservation, please contact us and let us know asap. We can not guarantee you will be placed together under separate reservations.
Private event reservations are for parties who are interested in creating a custom experience for only their guest-list (minimum headcount is 6). With a private reservation, you can bring in personal decor items, and add on additional features such as small bites and beverage discounts..
Reservations are available Thursday - Sunday (additional fees may apply during peak hours, such as weekend reservation requests). A non refundable 50% deposit is required to confirm a private reservation. The final balance is due 7 days prior to the event date.
Do you offer refunds?
Each ticket purchase is for one seat in the class. Please purchase additional tickets for each person participating. Tickets are non-refundable. However, tickets may be transferred as a gift to another person (one time).
Where do I park?
Unlike most places in Lexington, we have ample parking. There are street metered parking spaces. There is free parking up and down Kentucky Ave and Woodland Ave.
How many scents do you offer?
We offer over 60 scents to choose from! You can choose one or mix up to three to create your custom candle.
Why do you use coconut wax? Does it smell like coconuts?
Coconut wax is a colorless and odorless wax made from cold-pressed coconut. It is considered as one of the best and healthiest types of wax to make candles because it doesn't produce as much soot as the other types of wax. It has a superior scent throw which means you can produce long lasting and strongly scented candles using this wax.
Do you offer refills?
Yes! Bring in any vessel previously purchased at Poppy & Pomelo or Wick + Mortar Studio to refill for a discount! You still get to choose your scents, mix your wax AND you get to reuse your favorite vessel!
Vessels must be completely cleaned & cannot have any remaining wax, wicks or debris when brought in for refill. Must also not have any chips, cracks or other damage to vessels. Limit 1 refill per vessel.
Vessels MUST have been purchased at Poppy & Pomelo / Wick + Mortar Studio. We cannot accept vessels purchased elsewhere for refills.
Can I bring my own vessel to a workshop or for a refill?
For safety reasons, we do not allow vessels that have not been purchased at Poppy & Pomelo / Wick + Mortar Studio.
Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are recommended due to limited seating during our workshops. However, if there is space available for the next session, walk-ins are welcome for most sessions! Please see the schedule for session times.
Does everyone in my group have to make a candle?
Every reservation includes a seat + candle during the workshop. If someone in your party is not making a candle, we may not have a seat available for them but they are welcome to observe during your session.
Can I change my reservation?
If you need to change or reschedule your reservation, please contact us at least 48 hours before your scheduled workshop.
